Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Fashion Week… it is safe to say that this winter was one for the books. If you haven’t read it yet, here’s the link to my craziest yet adventurous Christmas Break in Haiti.
New York Fashion Week… As Carrie Bradshaw stated, every year the woman of New York let the past behind and looks forward to the future which is known as Fashion week. Fashion Week is certainly that time of the year where I seize the opportunity to experiment with my style. From jewelry to shoes, I didn’t shy away from the extravaganza. But there’s one thing though, most of these outfits were put together with different pieces from other outfits I have worn before. In other words, I went shopping in my own closet!
My friends would always tell me that they have never seen me with the same clothes more than once. Every time I hear that same line, I can’t help but be proud of myself. Not because they think I am probably a shopaholic who is constantly cleaning out her wardrobe with the old and fulfill it back in with the new. But because I haven’t been caught recycling yet, ah! How wrong were they! I may not recycle my gowns but best believe that Forever21 blouse, Asos skirt been rocking with me since 2014 and went through over a hundred outfits. And dahlings, this is the beauty and trick on slaying on a budget. Be versatile with your looks!
Do you know how many outfits you can rock with just one shirt? You can either dress it up or dress it down as you please without people easily noticing. Once you have mastered this trick, spending a fortune on clothes would no longer be an obligation to you but an option. One thing I notice is that people tend to unintentionally pair two pieces together and it sort of become an uniform. This is absolutely a DON’T in my book! For two reasons; 1- Every time you would want to wear that particular piece of clothing, you will recycle that same outfit you have worn over than a hundred times already and 2- it prevents you from experimenting something new with your looks.
Mastering the art of dressing up is really not rocking science, all you have to do is learn how to rock with the basics, and most importantly like I previously mentioned in my FALL STYLE RECAP know what works best for your body type!
